Starlink Installation across Essex, London, Kent & Hertfordshire

Starlink makes sense in a few specific situations. Rural homes where the only available broadband is a slow ADSL connection over copper. Business premises down long lanes or on industrial estates where the fibre cabinet stops short of the building. Holiday lets and barns where you need solid guest WiFi but no provider will run a line. Construction sites and pop up events where you need internet on the day. Marine and mobile installs where the property moves.

If your existing connection is fast enough and reliable enough then Starlink is not the right call. We will tell you straight if your postcode already has a sensible alternative.

The components below are what we fit on a typical Starlink install. We will price the exact selection during the survey.

• The Starlink dish (Standard, High Performance, Mini, or Maritime depending on the use case and the speed/bandwidth needed).
• A proper outdoor mount in the right position, level and aligned for a clear view of the sky with no obstructions.
• Weatherproof cable run from the dish into the property with proper sealing at every penetration through the building fabric.
• Indoor router placement in a position that gives the best WiFi spread.
• Optional UniFi managed network integration so the Starlink connection feeds a wider WiFi mesh that covers outbuildings, garages and gardens.
• Cable management inside and outside, no trailing wires, no holes left unsealed.
• Configuration of the Starlink app on your phone so you can monitor speed, uptime and any obstructions.

Starlink itself is a brilliant piece of engineering, but the install around it is what determines whether you actually get the speed and reliability the service is capable of. The dish needs an unobstructed line of sight to the sky in the direction the satellites pass over. The mount needs to be level and properly fixed so it does not move in high wind. The cable needs to be the right length, weather sealed at every entry point, and run somewhere it will not get damaged.

The Starlink router benefits from being placed thoughtfully so the WiFi reaches the parts of the property that need it. Where the property is large or has thick walls, an extended mesh on top of Starlink will outperform a standalone router every time.

Most of our domestic Starlink installs are at rural homes, lodges, country cottages, holiday lets and barn conversions. Properties down long private lanes that the BT cabinet cannot reach, properties in conservation areas where the cable companies will not dig, and properties whose existing copper connection is hovering at single digit megabits per second.

For working from home, video calls, streaming, smart home devices and any kind of cloud backup, the speed difference is dramatic. The Starlink Standard kit is usually enough for a typical family home; the High Performance variant is the right choice for properties that demand consistently higher speeds and more weather resilience.

For business sites without a viable fibre option (industrial units on the edge of estates, agricultural businesses, equestrian centres, taxi offices, garages and event venues) Starlink delivers business grade internet in a single day install. The internet then becomes the foundation for any CCTV, alarm system or smart device that relies on a connection.

A real example: we installed Starlink alongside Hikvision CCTV, Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi and an Ajax alarm system at Casablanca Gymnastics in Loughton. Conventional broadband was not an option at the site, so Starlink delivered the speed and the resilience the rest of the install needed to work properly.

For pop up events, construction sites and other temporary venues, Starlink Mini is now an excellent option that delivers in minutes rather than weeks of waiting for a circuit.

Starlink installs need a quick conversation about the property and a satellite signal check using the Starlink app to confirm you have an obstruction free line of sight to the sky. Where the property has clear sky and a sensible mounting location, we can often quote remotely from photographs and a postcode. What you see is what you pay.

For straightforward residential installs we agree the kit over the phone, you book the date, we arrive in the morning, fit the mount, position and align the dish, run the cable in cleanly, set up the router in the best position for WiFi, and walk you through the Starlink app and the speed test before we leave.

For commercial sites, properties with multiple buildings, anywhere a survey of the route from dish to router is needed, or where the install is paired with a wider UniFi managed network, we will arrange a free site survey first.

If you want the Starlink connection to support a CCTV or alarm system on the same install, we will integrate that too.
