Hikvision or Ajax: what to expect when you order a CCTV system with us right now

If you’ve been browsing our CCTV packages, you’ll have noticed that Hikvision is the brand we advertise across the site. That’s still accurate today, but it isn’t the whole picture, and we’d rather explain that now than have an engineer turn up with a different box than the one you expected.

Behind the scenes, we’re in the process of moving our CCTV range across to Ajax, the same manufacturer behind the alarm systems we’re already certified to install. It’s a gradual changeover rather than a single switch, and while it’s under way, we don’t yet have Ajax’s CCTV cameras and recorders listed as a separate product option on the site. That’s simply a case of the website catching up with where the business is heading.

What this means in practice is that if you order one of our high end or mid range systems, what actually gets fitted at your property could be the Hikvision product shown on the page, or it could be the Ajax equivalent. Which one you get depends on the property itself. Our engineers assess things like cabling, existing kit, the layout of the site and what will genuinely work best for your specific setup before deciding what to install, and at the moment that assessment might point to either brand.

This isn’t a case of one system being a step down from the other. We’re Ajax Certified Specialists, trained through Ajax’s own Academy programme, and we hold the same standard of certification with Hikvision. Both brands are professional grade equipment, and both are fitted, configured and supported by the same team using the same install standards. You’re not being offered a cheaper substitute if your engineer arrives with Ajax kit rather than Hikvision, or the other way round. The cameras will look different and the app you manage the system through will be different, but the coverage, image quality and reliability you’re paying for stay the same either way.

If you’d rather have one brand over the other, the simplest thing is to tell us that before your installation is booked in. We’ll always try to accommodate a preference where the property allows for it, and our team can talk you through what each system looks like day to day so you know what you’re choosing between.

Once the Ajax CCTV range is fully live on the site with its own listings, this will become far more straightforward, and you’ll be able to choose your preferred brand from the outset in the same way you can with our alarm systems today. Until then, we wanted this out in the open rather than leaving customers to find out mid installation. If you have any questions about which system suits your property, get in touch before you order and we’ll talk it through.
