Four Ajax Academy qualifications, one installation team
Ajax Systems runs its own training and certification programme through the Ajax Academy. It is not a third-party assessment or a reseller badge. It is Ajax’s own internal qualification structure, designed to ensure that engineers installing Ajax equipment understand it at a technical level rather than just following a setup wizard.
We have completed all four modules in the current curriculum. That puts CCTV Aware in a small group of UK installers who have worked through the full programme rather than just the baseline level, and it is the reason we are listed as a certified specialist on the official Ajax partner directory.
What the training involved
Each Ajax Academy module is assessed rather than just attended. The Wireless Intrusion modules cover the Jeweller protocol in detail, how the hub manages its device mesh, how to set up partitions and automation scenarios, and how to configure tamper protection and anti-jamming response correctly.
The Outdoor Solutions module focuses on the physical side of installation: where to mount detectors so they cover the right angle, how environmental conditions affect the PIR field, when to use a range extender and where to position it for best mesh performance.
The Video Surveillance module covers the Ajax camera range from the DomeCam Mini to the BulletCam and the DoorBell, including resolution and compression settings, ONVIF integration, and how the camera stream works alongside the Ajax app and third-party NVRs.
What a certified installation looks like in practice
A certified Ajax installation is designed before a single cable is touched. Hub placement is chosen for the best wireless reach to every corner of the property, not for convenience. Sensor positioning is calculated against the specific geometry of each room, not wherever the wall is easiest to drill.
Every device is added to the hub and its signal strength confirmed before the install is finished. The system is tested in full, armed and disarmed, with every zone verified. You receive a handover showing the hub configuration, sensor list and your app access.
The specific components depend on the property. On a typical installation we fit:
- Ajax Hub 2 Plus with dual SIM and Ethernet, positioned for maximum signal coverage across the site
- MotionProtect and MotionCam PIR detectors, pet immune and with photo-verification on alarm
- DoorProtect on all external doors and selected internal doors
- GlassProtect for vulnerable glazed areas within sensor range
- KeyPad Plus for code access and SpaceControl key fobs for arming from outside
- HomeSiren and StreetSiren for interior and exterior sound and strobe
- FireProtect for smoke and heat detection where required
Why the certification matters for you
Ajax is a capable system but it is not a plug-and-play consumer product. Poorly configured Ajax systems exist in the market because anyone can buy the equipment from a distributor, fit it without training and hand it over with the default settings intact. Default settings are not optimised for your property.
A certified engineer knows the difference between a system that passes a walk test and a system that is genuinely configured for the property. That includes setting the correct alarm delay times for your layout, enabling tamper detection on every device, configuring siren behaviour to meet your insurer’s requirements and setting up automation scenarios correctly if you have smart home integration.
It also means we can support you properly afterwards. If a sensor needs adjusting, if you want to add a device, or if the hub firmware updates and something needs reconfiguring, we understand the system well enough to help.
Certification on a home alarm installation
Most residential Ajax installs are for detached and semi-detached properties in Essex, London and the surrounding counties. A certified installation for a family home typically involves designing zones to match how the household uses the building. Upstairs armed at night while downstairs stays disarmed, or the whole property armed while the family is away.
App access means every adult in the household can arm and disarm from their phone, check which sensor last triggered, and receive alerts directly if the system activates. No monthly monitoring subscription is required, though we can help you set one up if you want a professional monitoring centre in the loop.
Ajax is also a complete security ecosystem in its own right. Certification on a business alarm installation
Small business premises benefit from a certified installation more than any other property type because the configuration requirements are more complex. Opening and closing times need to be set correctly, access zones for staff need to differ from the main intruder zones, and the alarm management in the app needs to be assigned properly across the team.

A certified installer sets this up as part of the handover. Your staff get app access appropriate to their role, the system is configured for your actual opening hours, and the documentation we leave covers the configuration clearly enough that any engineer can take it over in future if needed.
How a certified installation is handed over
At the end of every installation we carry out a full system test with you present. Every sensor is triggered, every zone is confirmed, and the app access is set up and verified on your phone before we leave. You walk away with the system working, not with a list of things to check later.
Most installs do not require a visit before we quote. You tell us the postcode, the property type and what you want covering, we tell you the price, and you book the install date in the same call. What you see is what you pay, with no salesman pricing the job by your postcode.
For commercial installs, multi-zone properties and combined CCTV and alarm projects, we arrange a free site survey to make sure we specify the right kit. Every device we fit is genuine, registered, and covered by warranty. If something is not right, we come back and fix it.
